Your First Period

First Periods
Every girl gets their period at some stage so being prepared at all times is a good idea. Most girls get their first periods between the ages of 8 and 16 but 12 to 13 is the average age for a girl to get her first period. I would suggest for every girl from the age of 8 and up to take a period kit with them wherever they go just in case. You may think "I'm too young to get my period," but if you are 8 or older that may not be the case. Do you really want to be remembered as the girl who had a blood stain on the back of her pants or skirt? I assume you wouldn't want to be remembered that way so by taking a kit with you wherever you go, you can avoid situations like that. So, what are you waiting for? Go read my post on Period Kits or just create one that seems right for you. If you do get your period and you don't have a pad or tampon on you, don't be afraid to ask another girl, female teacher or a school nurse. All girls get their periods at some stage and you shouldn't be afraid to ask someone for a pad or tampon. If they judge you just say that every girl gets their period so you can't tease me because this could be you one day. When asking just act confident like you don't care what they think about you having your period and stuff. Of course it would be great if you had stuff with you but that might not always be the way. This just shows that being prepared is the best way to avoid embarrassment.

Personality

I'm sure at one stage in your life you have said these words, "I want to be like her," or "I want to be like my friend." I mean seriously, who hasn't said those words. But the truth is, no to people are alike even identical twins or triplets. Just imagine, what your friend would think if you started acting exactly like her or him. Girls can be friends with guys so yeah. Your friend probably wouldn't like it if you started copying their looks, activities and their personality. Sure you can try to be more like them in some ways like by trying to be nicer like your friend or being more caring or friendly like your friend but just make sure you are trying to steal their whole personality and looks.

If your parents have ever said, "I wish you were more like your brother," or "I wish you were more like so and so," they don't mean it literally. They mean it in some ways like their personality or manners so maybe you could just try to improve your manners and be a bit nicer to your parents or something small like that. Nothing too Dramatic.

Trying to act like someone else probably isn't going to get you very far so just be who you are unless you are one of those nasty girls who always gets into fights but just because you are one of the nasty girls doesn't mean you have to completely change you just have to understand why you are like that. Maybe, you are only nasty because something happened when you were younger or you want to fit in but don't really know how to. What ever the reason try to fix that and change a little bit to make everyone else feel a bit calmer when they are around you. Maybe people are scared you might be nasty to them so they try to avoid you even when all you are trying to do is make a few friends. You just have to let people know that you have changed and just wanted to make a few friends but weren't too sure about how to do that.

Personalities can be used to express yourself and tell the world who you are. Some are outgoing, others are shy. Just be you and don't let anyone try to change you. Just be yourself because everyone else is taken!

Period Kits

Period Kits are one way of staying out of embarrassing moments. Do you want to be remembered as the girl who had a blood stain on the back of her pants. I assume not so why not create a Period Kit to take to school or wherever else you might go.
Depending on where you are going will depend on what you take with you. For a simple starter Period Kit I would suggest taking the following.
- 3 to 4 Pads of different absorbency's
- 1 to 2 Light or Regular Tampons
- 2 to 3 Thick Liners
- 2 to 3 Thin Liners
- 2 to 3 Extra Thin Liners
- A spare pair of underwear
- 1 or 2 Individually wrapped wipes safe for use down there
- 1 small hand sanitizer

Of course you don't have to take all of these items just take what you feel is right for you.

For a School Period Kit if you have started already and know your flow
- 2 or 3 Pads of the absorbency required for your flow
- 1  or 2 Pads of the absorbency up if possible
- 2 or 3 Tampons of the absorbency required for your flow
- 3 or 4 Thick Liners
- 3 or 4 Thin Liners
- 1 Small Hand sanitizer
- 1 or 2 Individually Wrapped wipes safe for use down there

A Sleepover Period Kit
- 2 Overnight Pads
- 6 or so Pads suited to your flow
- 6 or so Tampons suited to your flow
- 6 or so Thick Liners
- 6 or so Thin Liners
- 1 Small Hand sanitizer
- 1 or 2 Individually Wrapped Wipes safe for use down there

Day at the Beach Period Kit
- 4 to 5 Tampons suited to your flow
- 2 or 3 Pads suited to your flow
- 2 or 3 Thick Liners
- 1 Small Hand sanitizer
- 1 or 2 Individually Wrapped Wipes safe for use down there
